Lufthansa lie-flat business class to Frankfurt and Munich opened up from 60,000 Aeroplan points one way plus about $60 in taxes. The same nonstop Boston–Frankfurt seat was selling for roughly $6,347 in cash, which puts this a hair over 10 cents per point — one of the strongest transatlantic redemptions of the year. Fourteen U.S. and Canadian cities were live, every one of them nonstop. Boston, Montreal, New York, Newark and Toronto priced at the 60K floor, most others at 75K, and San Diego at 90K. Best availability ran August and January through March, with unusual fall and spring dates out of Boston and Washington, D.C. Aeroplan was the cheapest path at 60K–90K each way. United charged a flat 88K each way (80K for United cardholders) and was the easier place to find connecting itineraries from smaller home airports.
